The holiday season in the United States is upon us. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects approximately 17.8 million people to pass through U.S. airports from tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25, through Tuesday, December 2. More than 3 million people are expected to pass through airports on Sunday, November 30 alone.
"We are projecting that the Sunday after Thanksgiving will be one of the busiest travel days in TSA history," said TSA Commissioner Adam Stahl. "America is entering a Golden Age of Travel as record numbers of holiday travelers are taking to the skies. We are extremely grateful for the tireless work of our TSA Officers, who showed up every day to ensure Americans can travel freely and safely despite the hardships imposed on them by the shutdown."
TSA's current daily passenger count in 2025 is approximately 2.48 million, compared to 2.47 million in 2024. This is a daily increase of approximately 14,000 passengers per day in 2025 compared to 2024.
The TSA is publishing several tips for all travelers planning their upcoming vacation, including bringing a valid ID, passport, or other acceptable means of identification; presenting it to the TSA officer at the entrance to the checkpoint; and being attentive to the TSA officers at the security checkpoint.
As you may recall, in the United States, people breathed a sigh of relief recently, after the longest shutdown in the history of the country's airports, lasting 43 days, just before the arrival of the busiest days of the year, which begin now and will continue until after Christmas and the New Year.
