Wizz Air Opens New Base in Europe, Adds Over 10 Routes at Less Than €10 One Way

Wizz Air has announced the addition of 11 new routes to important cities in Europe with the help of two Airbus A321neo aircraft that will operate from Warsaw-Modlin Airport; tickets will cost less than €10 one way

Wizz Air will open a new base at Warsaw-Modlin Airport in Poland.

As previously promised, the company will add 11 direct routes to several big European cities. Starting this week, two Airbus A321neo aircraft will operate from the Polish airport as part of the company's plan to further strengthen its foothold in the local market. Flight prices on the new routes start at €9.99 one-way.

The airport hosted a festive ceremony to mark the inaugural flight on the Barcelona route. The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting with the participation of Wizz Air representatives, airport management, and local operations representatives. Passengers on the flight enjoyed a sweet surprise and a meeting with company personnel who presented the new expansion plan.

The Modlin base joins five other bases of the company in Poland, including Gdansk, Warsaw (Chopin), WroclawKatowice and Krakow. According to the company's announcement, the new base will reinforce its commitment to the domestic market. The list of new destinations opening this month from Modlin includes: Bergamo, Athens, Barcelona, ​​Bergen, Malta, Sofia, Brindisi, Allegro, Paphos, Palermo, and Chisinau.

The company will operate over 500,000 seats per year from Modlin on almost 219 routes across Poland. The new A321neo aircraft will reduce fuel consumption by 20% and noise by 50% compared to previous models.

The new base is expected to create approximately 80 direct jobs and support up to 700 additional jobs in the tourism and service industries. Since the start of operations in Poland in 2004, the company has flown 128 million passengers to and from Poland.
