Powerful Earthquake in Taiwan Shakes Taipei Capital City

Taiwan was shaken by a strong 6.0 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter in the south of the island. The tremor was also felt well in the north and the capital city of Taipei. Reports of an unusual duration of the tremor: "30 seconds"

The ground in Taiwan shook. A powerful earthquake was felt in the eastern island nation today at 9:47 a.m. GMT (5:45 p.m. Taiwan time).

According to the official report from the US Geological Survey, the earthquake had a 6.0-magnitude. However, reports from the country itself mention a relatively smaller 5.7-magnitude. earthquake 

The epicenter was in southern Taiwan, but according to reports, the tremor was also felt in the capital city of Taipei and other areas in the north of the island.

Footage of furniture and other objects moving following the earthquake was posted on social media, and, according to several accounts, the relatively long event lasted for about 30 seconds. However, no injuries or significant property damage were reported.
