American Airlines made its first flight in 1926 between Chicago and St. Louis, carrying mail. What began as a single flight has evolved into one of the world's largest and most influential airlines.
As part of the centennial celebrations, the airline's passengers will receive a series of special perks starting in the coming days, including a Boeing 737 aircraft in a special livery to mark the centennial. The aircraft will enter service later this month. The livery will combine historical elements with a look to the future, and will include a pattern of silver infinity rings that symbolize the company's continuity and the unlimited possibilities ahead.

The logo will also be integrated across the company's digital channels and on dedicated merchandise, and will be embossed as a special sticker on more than 1,500 aircraft in the company's fleet.
During 2026, American Airlines is expected to offer its passengers additional surprises, including amenity kits, pajamas, special in-flight menus, and limited-edition products, as part of its centennial celebrations.
In addition, the company launched a dedicated website summarizing its 100 years of operations, including a historical overview, employee stories, and the sale of celebratory products. The site presents the key milestones in the company's development, from the first flight in 1926, through the launch of the AAdvantage frequent flyer program, the establishment of the world's first airport lounge, and the development of the future flight experience with Flagship Suite seats.
