Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport has announced that extremely limited air activity is expected today (Wednesday, January 7, 2026) due to ongoing winter weather and strong winds.

This follows the flight cancellations that also occurred yesterday, As of the last update, over 600 flights have been canceled today, and it is estimated that additional cancellations are expected throughout the day.

Most of the cancellations concern domestic European flights, with the airport stating that this is a preventive measure designed to maintain the safety of passengers and crew.

Schiphol Airport Authority advises passengers planning to fly through the airport to check their flight status before arriving. Passengers whose flights have been canceled are asked not to arrive at the airport, and, if their flight is canceled after arrival, to leave the airport and return home or find alternative accommodation.

Passengers are asked to contact the airline directly for further information and updates. Travelers who plan to arrive or depart by train are also asked to check the timetables using the Dutch Railways travel planner.
