Birmingham Airport operations are returning to normal after a night of snow that completely paralyzed the airport.
According to the airport announcement, the runway has reopened "on a reduced basis", and crews are working to process passengers as efficiently as possible.
"Whilst we apologise for any inconvenience Storm Goretti has caused, the safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority. Passengers due to travel are advised to check the status of their flight with their airline." the airport said.
Operations at Amsterdam Airport have also been impacted by the severe weather over the past few days, and many flights have been canceled. Similar problems have been reported in relation to rail services, including Eurostar and local trains, which have also been severely impacted.
Last night, the airport in the Netherlands issued a new statement on the winter weather conditions that have caused hundreds of flight cancellations and delays, reassuring the public that, together with the airlines and partners, they will continue to do their best to assist as many passengers as possible.
The company also announced that the terminal is expected to be busier than usual, which is the reason why management and the employees have decided to increase the number of staff responsible for assisting passengers, answering questions, and distributing food and drinks.
In addition, the airport informed the public that several airlines canceled dozens of flights in advance due to the winter weather forecast.
