Winter storm in Athens. The European Meteorological Service EUMETNET issued a warning for extremely heavy rainfall (60 mm in a short period of time).

The service also warned of powerful thunderstorms in the first half of the day throughout the Attica region (where the capital city of Athens is located), but this is not a standard storm but rather winter weather typical of the season.

These days, despite extremely cold temperatures across Greece, and even in Athens, which are very close to zero, thousands of tourists continue to crowd the shopping streets, museums, and various attractions throughout the city.

In addition to warnings for tourists in Athens, extreme and severe weather warnings have been issued for many other areas of Greece, including the north of the country.
