Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced today (Thursday, February 5) that its second Airbus A350-900 has officially joined the airline's long-haul fleet. The new aircraft, with tail number HB-IFB and named after the town of Delémont, landed in Zurich and became the first A350 to enter the airline's classic livery.

Last month, the company announced that it would begin operating its new Airbus A350 aircraft on the Zurich-Seoul route starting March 29, 2026, marking the opening of the summer flight schedule. This is the first long-haul destination in Asia to be operated using the new aircraft, following initial operations on European routes and the Zurich-Boston route.

The new A350 will begin commercial flights on February 23, on a flight from Zurich to Montreal. The first aircraft of this model, which entered service about 3 months ago, was painted in a special livery called Wanderlust, and the company reports that it has so far made about 300 flights, covered about 720,000 km (18 times the circumference of the Earth), and reached 11 different destinations.

SWISS emphasizes that the introduction of the A350 aircraft is part of an ongoing process of renewing its intercontinental fleet. During the coming year, the company is expected to begin an upgrade process for its A330 aircraft.

Operating the new aircraft on the route will allow passengers to enjoy the company's new cabin concept, SWISS Senses, which combines modern design, a higher level of privacy, and a significant upgrade in in-flight comfort.

The cabin features advanced lighting adapted to passengers' conditions to reduce jet lag, alongside improved service and meticulous menus inspired by Swiss hospitality values.

Oliver Buchhofer, Chief Operating Officer of SWISS: "Eight more of these efficient new twinjets will join us in the years ahead. And each of them will help us steadily further modernize our long-haul aircraft fleet."
