Kzakhstan's national airline, Air Astana, is celebrating 20 years of operating Airbus aircraft in its fleet. The first A320 was delivered to the company in February 2006, and since then, the fleet has gradually grown, with the group currently nearing 60 aircraft in service.
The company's shareholders recently approved the purchase of 25 additional A320 family aircraft, as part of a long-term plan to maintain a modern and efficient fleet. The company did not specify whether these were the A321XLR aircraft that have become the most popular this year. It should be noted that, at the end of 2025, the company made the largest purchase in its history, specifically from Boeing.
In November 2016, the company entered service with its first A320neo aircraft, and was among the first companies in the world to operate the new model, which offers improved fuel efficiency and environmental performance.
In September 2019, the company expanded its fleet with the delivery of its first A321LR aircraft, enabling it to expand its network of destinations and operate long-haul flights using a narrow-body aircraft. The company's A321LR aircraft operate one of the world's longest routes for a narrow-body aircraft, the direct route between Almaty and London, which takes approximately 9 hours to fly.
As of today, the Air Astana Group fleet includes 59 aircraft, of which 41 are A320/A321neo family aircraft and 18 are A320/A321ceo aircraft, with the majority of the fleet being based on Airbus aircraft.
