Dutch Olympic Team Gets Fighter Jet Escort on Return

Dutch national airline KLM flew the Dutch Winter Olympics team home after the Olympic Games in Milan, Italy. In honor of the team's unprecedented success, the flight was accompanied by two Royal Air Force F-35s. See photos

The Dutch Winter Olympics team returned home yesterday (February 23, 2026) from Italy on a KLM flight to Schiphol, as one of the big winners of the Winter Games, with an unprecedented achievement for the Dutch: 10 gold medals.

To make the homecoming special for the athletes and the Dutch in general, two F-35 aircraft from the Royal Netherlands Air Force (Koninklijke Luchtmacht) joined the flight. Upon landing, a festive salute ceremony took place at the airport.

KLM also reminded the public that the games are not over yet and the Paralympic Winter Olympics will begin on March 6. "To all the incredible athletes competing: we're rooting for you and can't wait to watch you shine," KLM said.
