Lufthansa is marking its 100th anniversary in style, unveiling a special blue design on its Airbus A380. The aircraft arrived at Munich Airport yesterday evening as flight LH9901, coming from Shannon, Ireland, where it had been painted with the XXL crane and the anniversary markings “1926 | 2026” and “100.”

This A380 is the fourth aircraft to wear the anniversary livery. Earlier this month, a blue Airbus A350-900 arrived in Munich. A Boeing 787-9 and an Airbus A320neo, both based in Frankfurt, are already flying in the “100th anniversary colors,” and another Airbus A320neo is expected in Munich tomorrow.

Lufthansa has integrated these designs into regular repainting schedules or applied them as factory finishes for new deliveries, keeping additional costs minimal.
Alongside the anniversary celebrations, Lufthansa has introduced “IATA Turbulence Aware” technology across its fleet, with the aim of optimizing flight safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
The system relies on innovative data and special predictive algorithms to anticipate air turbulence and adjust flight paths as the turbulences occur. SWISS and Edelweiss Air have also joined the program, further proving that collaboration across the group has the power to make flights smoother and safer for passengers.
