An unusual incident at Newark Liberty Airport was recorded on Monday (March 9, 26), when United Airlines Flight 1207 returned to its tracks minutes after takeoff.

According to the FAA, the flight was diverted to the airport at around 8:40 a.m. local time after the plane struck a bird during takeoff. The crew reported a cracked windshield in the cockpit and a possible air compression problem.

The Boeing MAX 737-8 was en route to Jacksonville International Airport. The FAA said it has opened an investigation into the incident.

It should be noted that collisions with birds are one of the most common causes of aircraft malfunctions, and airports around the world invest great efforts to keep birds away from runways, although the task is not always easy.
