What's going on in the United States' skies? At least four unusual incidents have been recorded since the beginning of the week on domestic and international flights in the United States, following air crews signaling various problems. In all cases, the planes landed or were serviced without injuries.
The latest incident occurred yesterday, Monday, April 20, when Delta Flight 188, en route from Seoul, South Korea, to Atlanta, made a stopover at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around 10:30 a.m. local time. The flight crew reported a suspected security incident during the flight. The plane landed safely for further inspection.
The day before, on April 19, American Airlines Flight 2717 landed safely at Chicago's airport after a report of a disruptive passenger. The flight had taken off from Fort Lauderdale, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it would investigate the incident.
Another incident occurred in Denver that day, when the crew of United Flight 2408 reported a suspected security incident as it prepared to take off from Denver International Airport. Following the report, passengers were deplaned on the tarmac and taken to the terminal by bus. The flight was scheduled to depart for Washington.
The incident follows another incident earlier this week, in which a United Airlines flight to New York was diverted due to a bomb threat. In that incident, the plane landed at Pittsburgh International Airport, where all passengers and crew were evacuated unharmed.
The investigation into all of the incidents is ongoing, and as mentioned, no injuries were reported in any of the cases.
