Alaska Airlines has launched its first-ever nonstop flight between Seattle and Rome, marking a major milestone in the carrier’s expansion into Europe. The new seasonal service to Rome Fiumicino Airport will run through October 23, becoming the only daily nonstop connection between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and the Italian capital.

Service to Rome expands how we connect our guests to the world, strengthens Seattle’s role as a global gateway and is made possible by our people who deliver safety, care and performance with every flight.”
Officials from the Port of Seattle and Rome Fiumicino Airport also welcomed the new connection, highlighting its role in strengthening transatlantic ties and boosting economic and tourism opportunities between the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Italy.
Beyond Passenger Travel
The Seattle–Rome route is operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and features Alaska’s new international business class Suites, offering 34 lie-flat seats along with upgraded dining, curated amenities, and enhanced onboard comfort.

The service is also expected to improve one-stop connectivity between Europe and Hawai‘i via Seattle, opening new travel options for leisure and business passengers.

Starting April 28, 2026, the airline started operating daily nonstop cargo service between Seattle and Rome, becoming the first U.S. passenger airline to do so and extending its global cargo reach to more than 100 destinations.
The launch is part of a broader international push that includes upgraded premium cabins, enhanced airport experiences, and expanded loyalty benefits for Atmos Rewards members. These include international upgrade options, lounge access across global partner networks, and upcoming improvements to check-in and concierge services at major hubs. Alaska is also rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, aiming to deliver fast, complimentary connectivity on long-haul flights as it continues expanding its global operations.
