British Airways has updated its "Behavior on the Aircraft" policy under section "11a) Unacceptable behavior", prohibiting passengers from video recording, snapping photos, or live-streaming crew members during flights

"If, while you are on board the aircraft, we reasonably believe that you have filmed, live-streamed or photographed our crew or other colleagues without their consent, we may take any measures we think reasonable to prevent you continuing your behavior," the new policy reads.

What Does This Mean for Passengers?

Passengers who fail to comply with the new rules could be asked to exit the aircraft upon landing, or be denied carriage on the remaining sectors of the journey shown on their ticket.

"When the aircraft lands, we may decide to report the incident on board the aircraft to the relevant authorities with a view to them prosecuting you for any criminal offenses you might have committed," regulations say.

BA further clarified that, "If, as a result of your behavior, we divert the aircraft to an unscheduled place of destination and make you leave the aircraft, you must pay us the reasonable and proper costs of the diversion."

Passengers are not, however, fully banned from taking any photos while flying the airline. They can continue to take selfies, snap photos of their seats, cabin features, window views, meals, or drinks, just as long as they do not film or record any crew members without their consent.

The same applies to snapping photos or videos of other passengers without their consent.
