Good Start to the Summer
At the end of last week, Wizz Air announced it delivered strong operational performance during the first four months of 2026, as the airline industry is getting ready for what is expected to be one of the busiest summer travel seasons in recent years.
The low-cost carrier reported a completion rate of 99.53% between January and April, placing it among the top-performing major airlines in Europe for schedule reliability. The figure measures how consistently airlines operate their planned flights and is considered a key indicator of network stability.
The airline also recorded solid punctuality results across several industry metrics, including on-time departures and arrivals. Wizz Air said it ranked among Europe’s strongest performers for first-wave departures, which reflects how effectively airlines launch operations at the start of the day and helps reduce delays across the network later on.
In addition, the company achieved an A180 result (180-degree turn is a maneuver to reverse direction, often used for runway alignment) above 99%, its best performance in four years for limiting major delays.
Ian Malin, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air: "As we enter the summer season, passengers can feel confident choosing Wizz Air, backed by strong operational performance, disciplined execution, and a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
"Despite the wider challenges facing the aviation industry, including geopolitical uncertainty, our focus remains unchanged: operating a stable network, minimizing disruption for customers, and getting passengers to their destinations safely and on time.”
The airline noted that demand for summer travel remains strong, with passengers increasingly choosing airlines based on reliability and reduced risk of disruption.
To prepare for the summer peak, Wizz Air recently launched a new disruption assistance service with HTS. The service is designed to support eligible passengers facing delays of more than two hours by providing faster assistance during disruptions.
Wizz Air said the operational improvements are also linked to its Customer First Compass initiative, introduced a year ago to improve customer experience, operational discipline, and communication across the network.
