Bilbao Airport has strengthened its international connectivity with the addition of a new route to Milan Malpensa Airport, operated by low-cost carrier Wizz Air.

The new service will run four times per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) via modern Airbus A321neo, further expanding travel options between Spain and Italy and improving access for both business and leisure passengers.

The route is expected to enhance mobility between the Basque Country and northern Italy, two regions with strong cultural, economic, and tourism ties. Milan Malpensa, one of Italy’s busiest international hubs, offers onward connections to destinations across Europe and beyond, making the new link particularly valuable for transfer passengers.

Bilbao is known as "the vibrant heart of the Basque Country" and also "one of the most captivating destinations on the Iberian Peninsula, celebrated for its perfect balance between architectural avant‑garde and deep historical roots."

The city is ruled by the iconic silhouette of the Guggenheim Museum, turning its industrial past into an international hub of design and culture.

"Surrounded by lush natural landscapes between mountains and ocean, it is an unmissable destination offering a full 360‑degree tourism experience," said Wizz Air.

Milan airport has recently updated its liquid carrying policy: "At Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa T1, it is once again possible to carry liquids, aerosols, and gels in bottles of up to 2 liters per container without having to separate them from your hand luggage."

Wizz Air recently introduced a special disruption assistance program available during booking, allowing passengers to book an alternative flight in the event of a cancellation or delay, even with other companies.
