Services will be operated using Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, providing passengers with regular access to Spain’s Costa Blanca region during both peak and shoulder travel seasons.
Alicante, located on Spain’s southeastern coast, is known for its long sandy beaches, mild year round climate and strong tourism infrastructure. The city also serves as a gateway to the wider Costa Blanca area, which includes well known destinations such as Benidorm, Altea and Elche.
Speaking on the launch, Air Serbia’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Boško Rupić, said the new route reflects the airline’s continued focus on expanding its presence in Spain and improving connectivity with key leisure markets.
“By introducing direct flights between Belgrade and Alicante, we are continuing the strategic expansion of our destination network in Spain and further enhancing connectivity with one of the most attractive Mediterranean markets. Alicante is a destination that will appeal to travellers from Serbia and the wider region, as it offers much more than a traditional beach holiday, from the renowned Costa Blanca coastline and Mediterranean lifestyle, to its rich history, authentic gastronomy, and a wide range of attractions catering to a variety of traveller needs.".
The addition of Alicante brings Air Serbia’s Spanish network to seven destinations, alongside Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia. The airline has also indicated further expansion plans in the market, with new services to Tenerife and Seville expected to launch in September.
Air Serbia said the expansion is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its international leisure network and respond to growing demand for travel to Mediterranean destinations, particularly during the summer season when passenger traffic traditionally increases.
With the introduction of the Belgrade to Alicante route, the carrier continues to position Spain as one of its most important European markets while offering passengers additional choice for holiday travel along the Spanish coast.
