International bus company FlixBus has announced a significant expansion of its services at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER), in a move designed to improve regional accessibility to the largest airport in eastern Germany.

The expansion is expected to give passengers greater flexibility and make it easier to get to and from the airport for residents in large cities, towns and areas that previously enjoyed limited connections.

As part of the move, the number of daily trips between Leipzig and Berlin-Brandenburg Airport will be doubled, and even more, to up to nine trips per day in each direction, with the fastest journey time being just over two hours. The cities of Schwerin, Jena and Menzitz will also benefit from additional lines, while Görlitz and Zittau will be connected directly to the airport for the first time.

In addition, the Ore Mountains region will receive a direct daily service to Berlin Airport from the towns of Oberwiesenthal and Enberg-Buchholz for the first time. During the summer months, a new seasonal service will also be launched, connecting the airport with popular Baltic Sea holiday destinations such as Warnemünde, Bad Doberan and Killungsborn.

Even Beyond Germany

FlixBus is also expanding its operations from Poland. Poznan will be connected to the airport with up to 15 daily trips in each direction, and Wroclaw with up to 13 daily trips.

Similarly, Szczecin will be connected with up to 12 daily trips in each direction.

According to the airport management, during the peak season, up to 155 buses are expected to pass through it daily, providing a direct connection to approximately 150 cities in Germany and Poland without the need to change means of transportation along the way.
