Passengers traveling from Cluj-Napoca to the Greek island of Zakynthos now have twice as many flight options following the launch of services by a second airline on the route.
Starting June 4, 2026, flights between Cluj International Airport and Zakynthos are being operated by both Wizz Air and Animawings, giving travelers greater flexibility when planning summer holidays to one of Greece's most popular island destinations.
According to Cluj International Airport, the addition of Animawings alongside Wizz Air represents a significant boost in connectivity between northwestern Romania and the Ionian island.
Wizz Air will operate flights on Thursdays and Sundays. On Thursdays, flights depart Cluj at 12:50 and arrive in Zakynthos at 14:55, with the return service leaving the Greek island at 15:30 and arriving back in Cluj at 17:30. Sunday flights depart Cluj at 14:55 and return from Zakynthos at 17:30.
Animawings will also serve the route on Thursdays, offering an additional weekly option for travelers seeking a summer getaway.
The expanded schedule comes as demand for Greek island destinations remains strong among Romanian travelers. Known for its turquoise waters, dramatic coastal scenery, and famous Navagio Beach, Zakynthos continues to rank among the most sought-after holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.
Airport officials welcomed the addition of a second carrier on the route, highlighting the increased flexibility and convenience for passengers departing from Cluj.
With two airlines now serving Zakynthos, travelers have more choices when selecting departure times and fares, further strengthening Cluj International Airport's growing network of leisure destinations for the 2026 summer season.
