Kilimanjaro. Photo: Shutterstock Brussels Airlines has officially launched a new route to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, with the first flight taking off from Brussels Airport.
The new route, announced last year, will operate with two weekly flights throughout the year. Kilimanjaro joins the company's extensive network of destinations in sub-Saharan Africa, becoming its 18th destination in the region and underscoring Brussels Airlines' position as one of the strongest and most significant European airlines in the African market.
Mount Kilimanjaro, rising to 5,895 meters, is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the continent's symbols. The region is considered one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the world thanks to its famous climbing routes, nearby nature reserves, safaris in the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the exotic beaches of Zanzibar.

Photo: ShutterstockFor Brussels Airlines, this is another strategic move to strengthen its presence in Africa, a market where it enjoys a unique position thanks to Belgium's historical ties with many countries on the continent. The company currently operates an extensive network that includes destinations such as Dakar, Abidjan, Accra, Lagos, Kigali, Entebbe, Nairobi, Kinshasa, Luanda, Monrovia, Freetown and other destinations.
The new route will allow passengers from Europe and North America more convenient access to one of Africa's most exciting tourist regions, while strengthening Tanzania's air connectivity to the international market.
