Passengers seeking assistance from Lufthansa on social media are being urged to stay vigilant after the airline warned about fake accounts impersonating its staff and customer service teams. Atthe end of March, Korean Air also alerted travelers regarding fake ads on social media designed to steal personal data and payments, urging caution across Instagram and Facebook.

In a message posted online today, June 8, 2026, Lufthansa said fraudulent profiles have been responding to travelers while pretending to represent the airline.

“Please watch out for fake accounts that appear to be Lufthansa/Lufthansa staff wanting to help you,” the airline said.

The carrier advised customers to carefully verify that replies come from official Lufthansa accounts before sharing any personal information or engaging with support representatives.

Lufthansa also stressed that, despite claims made by some fake profiles, it does not offer customer support through WhatsApp.

“Contrary to claims by fake user profiles, we do not offer support via WhatsApp,” the airline stated.

The warning comes amid a growing number of online impersonation scams targeting travelers, particularly on social media platforms where fraudsters often pose as airline representatives to obtain personal details, booking information, or payment data.
