Carnival Corporation's luxury British cruise line, Cunard, is giving travelers the chance to be part of one of its most significant modern milestones as preparations continue for Queen Mary 2's landmark 450th transatlantic crossing later this year.

The luxury cruise line has launched a sweepstakes that will send one winner and a guest aboard the historic voyage from Southampton to New York, departing on November 10 and arriving on November 17, 2026. The prize also includes flights, hotel accommodation in Southampton, and transfers to and from the port.

The announcement comes during a notable year for the company. In July, Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to take part in Sail4th 250 in New York Harbor, one of the major events marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Cunard’s flagship has been selected as the only ocean liner in America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations

Queen Mary 2 remains unique in the cruise industry as the world's only active ocean liner offering regularly scheduled transatlantic crossings between the United Kingdom and the United States.

The timing is also significant because July 4 marks the anniversary of Cunard's first crossing. On that date in 1840, RMS Britannia departed Liverpool for Boston, launching what became the world's first scheduled transatlantic steamship service and helping reshape international travel and trade.

"Transatlantic travel is the foundation of Cunard's rich heritage and remains one of the most iconic experiences in luxury travel today," said Liz Fettes, Senior Vice President, Commercial, North America and Australasia at Cunard.

"As we prepare to participate in America's 250th anniversary celebration, it feels especially meaningful to also celebrate Queen Mary 2's upcoming 450th crossing," she added. "This milestone is a testament to the 186 years of history, connection and unforgettable voyages across the Atlantic."

A Strong Bond

Cunard's ties to the United States stretch back generations. According to the company, an estimated one in five immigrants who arrived in America between 1840 and 1923 traveled aboard Cunard steamships.

Today, the cruise line operates a fleet of four ships, including Queen Mary 2, Queen Anne, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.

The sweepstakes is open until July 31, 2026, with entrants also able to earn a bonus entry by sharing a favorite Cunard travel photo or participating in a poll about their future cruise plans.

For cruise enthusiasts and maritime history fans alike, the opportunity offers a chance to experience one of ocean travel's most enduring traditions firsthand.
