Just days after Etihad and Abu Dhabi tourism authorities launched free medical insurance coverage for eligible international visitors through 2026, Emirates has a similarly exciting announcement. The airline is the first in the world to offer an integrated travel insurance product that includes medical protection for conflict-related incidents, along with extensive disruption support managed directly by the airline.

The new offering, announced today, June 17, 2026, is designed to provide passengers with end-to-end reassurance from booking through to arrival, combining insurance benefits with operational support such as hotel accommodation and rebooking assistance during major disruptions.

Rooted in Emirates’ “fly better” philosophy, the product is developed in partnership with global insurance provider Travel Guard and expands the airline’s existing customer protection framework.

Expanded Protection, Including Conflict-Related Medical Cover

The Comprehensive Travel Cover includes a wide range of benefits such as trip cancellation protection, baggage delay or loss compensation, unlimited medical expense coverage, and emergency evacuation worldwide.

A key new feature is its conflict-related cover, which provides:

  • Medical expense reimbursement of up to US$25,000
  • Free trip extension of up to 30 days
  • Coverage that is not restricted by government travel advisories

In cases of severe disruption, Emirates will also provide airline-managed hotel accommodation, including scenarios involving airspace closures.

Built-In Flexibility and Disruption Support

Beyond insurance, Emirates is also enhancing operational flexibility. If itineraries involve connecting flights on other airlines or Emirates services are unavailable, the airline will rebook affected passengers to their destination at no additional cost, including in cases of conflict-related cancellations.

The product is supported by additional customer-friendly policies such as free date changes for eligible tickets and the option to “hold my fare” for 24 hours at no charge.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said the move responds directly to customer needs: “Listening to customer feedback, we realised that travel demand remains strong but there was a gap in the market with regards to travel insurance cover…”

He added that the collaboration with Travel Guard helps deliver “enhanced protection that sets a new benchmark in the industry.”

Russel Antonio, Head of Global Business & Partnerships at Travel Guard, said the partnership “responds to the needs of today’s travelers” and elevates customer experience standards.

Availability and Markets

Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover is available for purchase from today on emirates.com at the time of booking or via Manage Booking. It is offered at an additional premium across selected markets, including the UK, EU countries, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and the UAE.
