Residents in parts of New York City are being advised to prepare for possible minor coastal flooding after the National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Statement covering shoreline areas across the city.

According to the advisory, above-normal tidal levels are expected in the coming days, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying and vulnerable coastal locations. Officials said the combination of elevated tides, wave splash-over and the effects of the full moon could lead to minor flooding along shore roads and nearby properties.

While no significant flooding is currently forecast, authorities warned that the highest-risk areas may experience temporary inundation during periods of high tide.

Residents and visitors in coastal neighborhoods are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and be aware of changing conditions, particularly if traveling near waterfront roads or flood-prone areas.

The National Weather Service noted that a Coastal Flood Statement is issued when minor flooding is possible but widespread impacts are not expected.
