While Europe is dealing with a heat wave sending temperatures to 40 degrees Celsius in Western and now Eastern parts of the continent, Thailand is bracing for monsoons.

The Thai Meteorological Department has today, June 29, 2026, issued a seventh weather warning for heavy rainfall and strong marine conditions across Thailand, covering the period from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026.

The alert warns that increased monsoon activity will bring heavy to very heavy rain in several regions, particularly the eastern areas and the western southern provinces. The conditions are being driven by a monsoon trough moving across northern and upper northeastern Thailand, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Authorities cautioned that continuous and accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in hillside areas, near waterways, and low-lying regions. The public has been advised to monitor local conditions closely and exercise caution when traveling during the period.

Strong Sea Conditions in Andaman Sea

The department also warned of rough sea conditions in the upper Andaman Sea, where wave heights are expected to reach 2–3 metres, and exceed 3 metres during thunderstorms.

In the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are forecast at around 2 metres, increasing further in storm-affected areas. Small vessels in the upper Andaman Sea have been advised to remain ashore during the warning period.

Mariners across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand have been urged to avoid sailing in thunderstorm-affected zones due to hazardous conditions.

The Meteorological Department advised residents and travelers to plan activities carefully and follow official updates. Further advisories are expected, with the next bulletin scheduled for 30 June 2026 at 05:00 local time.
