Tragic Moments in the Air: Drone Reportedly Hits Passenger Plane Before Landing

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating after the crew of a JetBlue flight reported that the aircraft was struck by a drone while approaching New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

According to the FAA, the incident involved JetBlue Flight 948 from Las Vegas to New York (JFK). The pilot reported that the aircraft was on final approach when it was reportedly hit by a drone at an altitude of approximately 3,000 feet.

The incident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. local time on June 29, according to preliminary information released by the FAA.

Following the aircraft's safe landing, an initial inspection found no visible damage to the plane.

The FAA said it is continuing to investigate the incident to determine exactly what happened and whether the reported drone strike can be confirmed.
