Thousands of passengers travelling through Italy could face flight disruptions on Sunday, July 5, 2026, as multiple strikes are scheduled across the country's aviation sector.
The largest action involves easyJet pilots and cabin crew, who are set to stage a 24-hour nationwide strike from 00:00 to 23:59. The walkout has been called by several major Italian unions, including FILT-CGIL, FIT-CISL, UILTrasporti, UGL-TA and ANPAC, alongside a separate strike by USB.
In addition to easyJet, airport handling staff, security personnel and air navigation employees are also scheduled to strike, potentially affecting operations at several major airports.
The planned industrial actions include:
-easyJet pilots and cabin crew: 24-hour nationwide strike.
-Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino: ADR security staff strike from 10:00 to 18:00.
-Milan Malpensa: ENAV staff strikes (24 hours and 13:00–17:00), FedEx staff strike (14:00–18:00), and Assohandlers employees on a 24-hour strike.
-Catania Airport: ASC Handling staff strike from 14:00 to 18:00.
Passengers flying to, from or within Italy on July 5 are advised to check their flight status with their airline before travelling to the airport, as delays and cancellations are possible.
