Air travelers in Italy could face yet another set of disruptions on July 21, 2026, following the multiple strikes that took place on July 5 across the country's aviation sector.

Several strikes by airport and ground-handling workers are scheduled at airports across the country.

According to Italy's official transport strike calendar, industrial action is planned at Milan Malpensa, Naples, Salerno and Lamezia Terme airports, with workers from several ground-handling and airport service companies expected to participate.

The largest action is scheduled at Milan Malpensa Airport, where employees of ALHA and MLE-BCUBE represented by CUB Trasporti and USB Lavoro Privato are due to stage a 24-hour nationwide strike, running from 00:00 to 23:59.

At Lamezia Terme Airport, ground handling staff employed by SACAL GH and represented by UGL Trasporto Aereo are also scheduled to walk out for 24 hours, from 00:00 until 24:00.

Meanwhile, airport employees from GH Napoli, Sky Service and Bourelly Health Service at Naples and Salerno airports are expected to hold a four-hour strike between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The action has been called by the FAST-Confsal union.

The strikes could affect baggage handling, aircraft turnaround operations and other ground services, potentially leading to delays or flight cancellations depending on airline operations.

Passengers traveling through the affected airports on July 21 are advised to monitor their flight status with their airline and allow additional time when traveling to the airport.

Under Italian regulations, some flights may be protected under minimum service requirements during strike action.
