Qatar Airways has today, August 10, 2026, issued a warning about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the airline and attempting to obtain customers' personal and financial information.

The airline said passengers should be particularly cautious of accounts or direct messages requesting sensitive information, including passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs), banking details or other confidential data.

Qatar Airways stressed that it will never request such information through social media or direct messages.

Passengers are advised to interact only with the airline through its verified official channels, including the official Qatar Airways website and mobile app.

The warning comes as travelers increasingly use social media and messaging platforms to contact airlines about bookings, flight disruptions and customer service, creating opportunities for scammers to impersonate established carriers.

Qatar Airways is urging customers to verify that they are communicating with an authentic account before sharing any information or clicking on links sent through social media.

If a message appears suspicious, travelers should avoid providing personal or payment details and instead contact Qatar Airways through its official channels.

In June, Lufthansa issued a similar warning, urging passengers to be cautious of fake social media accounts impersonating the airline and offering fraudulent customer support. Also in June, Air France-KLM warned the public about a fraudulent online advertisement promoting a fake private jet investment scheme falsely using its name and branding

At the end of March, Korean Air also warned its customers about similar perils.
