The 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece recorded passenger traffic of approximately 6.9 million people during the month of July, with 20,575,377 passengers passing through from the beginning of the year to the end of July.

This is an increase of 5.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2025, when passenger traffic amounted to approximately 19.52 million.

The data illustrate the strength of demand for Greece, especially at a time when many European destinations are dealing with high vacation prices, airport congestion, and increasing competition for international tourists.

The Islands Continue to Attract Europe

According to Fraport Greece, international traffic remains the main engine behind growth.

Among the airports that continue to lead the trend are Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Chania, Kefalonia, Mykonos and Skiathos, destinations that attract millions of passengers from all over Europe every summer.

The data once again reinforces Greece's position as one of the strongest tourist destinations in Europe, with not only Athens benefiting from the increase in passenger traffic, but also a wide network of holiday destinations on the islands and in the north of the country.

More Than a Million Additional Passengers Within a Year

The gap between January-July 2025 and the corresponding period this year is significant: within a year, more than a million passengers were added to Fraport Greece's airport network.

In 2025, 19,521,178 passengers passed through the 14 airports during this period, compared to 20,575,377 passengers this year, an increase of more than 1.05 million passengers.

The increase indicates that demand for Greece is not based solely on the peaks of August, but is already reflected throughout the first seven months of the year.

July: 6.9 Million Passengers in One Month

The month of July alone ended with approximately 6.9 million travelers online, becoming another milestone in the strong summer of the Greek tourism industry.

For the islands, the significance is much broader than just aviation data: the increase in passenger numbers translates directly into occupancy at hotels, restaurants, car rentals, ferries, attractions and local businesses.

Fraport Greece notes that alongside continued traffic growth, the company is focusing on improving connectivity between destinations and maintaining a safe, efficient and high-quality travel experience for passengers.
