SWISS is expanding its meal pre-selection service to Economy Class, giving passengers on long-haul flights departing from Switzerland the option to choose their main course before they travel.

The new service allows SWISS Economy passengers to select between a meat dish and a vegetarian option from Hiltl, the Swiss restaurant group known for its vegetarian cuisine. Passengers can make their selection between six weeks and 24 hours before departure.

The pre-selection service is available through the SWISS Culinary Journey section on the airline's website and through the SWISS app. Passengers can review the food and beverage options available on their flight and select their preferred main course in advance.

SWISS says passengers who pre-order their meal are guaranteed to receive their chosen main course on board.

Pre-Select Already Popular in Premium Cabins

SWISS has offered its Pre-Select service to First and Business Class passengers since 2022. The airline expanded the program to Premium Economy in December 2025, where passengers can choose from three different meals.

Demand for the service has continued to grow, with SWISS receiving approximately 1,000 meal pre-orders every day.

The most popular choice so far has been Zürcher Geschnetzelte, a traditional Swiss dish. According to SWISS, passengers have selected the meal almost 42,000 times.

Business Class passengers can also use Pre-Select on short-haul flights, where the service can provide a wider choice than is available on board. On routes such as Zurich to Düsseldorf and Zurich to London, passengers can choose from up to eight meals online each day.

Economy Pre-Orders Also Available on Short-Haul Flights

SWISS Economy passengers already have another pre-order option on short-haul services through the airline's SWISS Saveurs menu.

Passengers can order their preferred dish in advance and receive a 10% discount from the original price.

With the latest expansion, SWISS says its Pre-Select program is now among the most comprehensive airline meal pre-selection services worldwide.
