Almost 10M Passengers in the Summer Months Alone: ​​The Airport That Breaks Records

Copenhagen Airport is showing unprecedented figures. Spain continues to be the favorite destination for passengers, Italy is making a jump, and long-haul flights also keep strengthening

Historic record for Copenhagen Airport. 9.9 million passengers passed through the airport in the Danish capital in June, July and August. This is a 3% increase compared to the summer of 2025 and the highest number ever recorded during the summer period. In August alone, 3.3 million passengers passed through the airport.

According to the airport management, during much of the summer, more than 100,000 passengers passed through it per day.

Spain maintained its top spot on the list of most popular destinations. Some 789,000 passengers flew between Copenhagen and destinations in Spain during the three summer months, a 3% increase over last year.

Italy recorded even more significant growth, with 714,000 passengers - a 10% jump. Following them on the list of top Mediterranean destinations are France with 484,000 passengers, Greece with 456,000 and Turkey with 427,000.

In total, about 2.9 million passengers flew from Copenhagen to the top five Mediterranean countries this summer.

At the same time, demand for long-haul flights continues to rise. About 1.5 million passengers flew on intercontinental routes in the summer - an increase of 5% compared to last year. The growth is particularly noticeable in Asia, following new routes to Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul, along with additional flights to Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing. In the summer, 37 long-haul routes operated from Copenhagen to destinations in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America.
