Photo: Miguel Lagoa / Shutterstock.com Etihad Airways has unveiled its new “Beyond Borders” product at Arabian Travel Market, introducing a redesigned Airbus A330 cabin with new First, Business and Economy interiors as the airline continues to expand its fleet and invest in its passenger experience.
The new A330 cabin is the centerpiece of Etihad’s Beyond Borders concept, which the airline says will gradually extend across its aircraft, lounges and premium spaces. The design will also be introduced on the Airbus A321LR, creating a more consistent look and feel across different parts of the Etihad journey.
Etihad is also expanding its First Class offering, with First suites being introduced on more aircraft and routes as part of its wider fleet growth and retrofit program.
Etihad's new A330 will enter service from September 2027, with 15 aircraft scheduled to join the fleet over five years.
The aircraft will operate on regional and medium-haul routes across markets including Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Etihad says the three-cabin configuration is designed for routes where demand for premium travel and additional capacity continues to grow.
The new A330 will feature four First suites at the front of the aircraft. Each suite will have a closing door, as well as space for a companion to dine or socialize.
First passengers will have access to a 32-inch screen, wireless charging, dedicated storage compartments, and a personal powder station stocked with premium amenities that can also be taken away after the flight.
Behind First, the Business Class cabin will have 24 fully lie-flat seats. All seats face forward and provide direct aisle access, while sliding doors offer additional privacy.
Each Business seat will feature a 17.3-inch screen, wireless and wired charging, a large table, and dedicated personal storage.
Economy will offer 252 seats, with Etihad's fixed-wing headrests, 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens, and personal charging. A dedicated Extra Legroom section will contain 32 seats with four inches of additional pitch.
Etihad says First will be a key part of its Beyond Borders strategy as it expands the product across its fleet.
The airline's A321LR has already brought First suites and fully lie-flat Business Class to a single-aisle aircraft. According to Etihad, passengers have responded strongly to the product and are actively choosing flights operated by the A321LR.
The new A330 will take the same approach into Etihad's regional and medium-haul widebody network, giving passengers access to a First Class product on more routes.
The airline's A380 will continue to feature its flagship First Apartments and The Residence. A mock-up of The Residence is also being displayed at Arabian Travel Market.
Etihad is investing US$20 billion in new aircraft and customer experience, including a US$1 billion fleet retrofit program.
Beyond Borders is also introducing a new design language inspired by Abu Dhabi. Etihad describes the concept as “from sand to superstructure,” drawing on the emirate's landscape, architecture and transformation.
The new interiors feature bright, calm spaces with details including lighting inspired by Etihad's facet pattern, genuine leather seating in premium cabins and discreet First Class seat numbers projected onto the floor.
The design concept will also extend beyond the aircraft. Etihad plans to introduce shared elements across its lounges and onboard spaces to create greater continuity throughout the passenger journey.
The airline says Beyond Borders will eventually bring cabins, lounges, dining, amenities, wellbeing, connectivity and ground services together as part of a more connected passenger experience.
