Romania's national airline was founded on September 18, 1954, and will celebrate 72 years tomorrow. The anniversary comes as TAROM continues a transformation that the company says will focus on safety, the passenger experience and air connections that reflect current travel demand.
The airline says its new commercial strategy will cover the entire passenger journey, from interaction with TAROM and services at the airport to the onboard experience. It also plans to simplify how passengers interact with the airline and adapt its offer to changing travel needs.
Boeing 737 MAX. Photo: Lukas Wunderlich / Shutterstock.comFleet modernization is another part of the plan. TAROM is introducing Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as it works to improve operational efficiency and passenger comfort while maintaining its safety standards.
The first aircraft in this modernization phase have been named after two prominent Romanian sports figures, Mircea Lucescu and Ivan Patzaichin.
TAROM general manager Cristian Anghel said the airline's 72-year history has been built around its employees and the millions of passengers who have traveled with the company.
He said the anniversary was also an opportunity to look ahead, with the airline aiming to offer simpler services and connections that are more relevant to passengers.
To mark the anniversary, TAROM is also offering round-trip domestic flights for €72 on selected routes.
The promotion runs from September 14 through September 18 and covers flights to Baia Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Oradea, Suceava and Timișoara for journeys beginning October 15, 2026. Flights to Arad are included for travel between November 2 and November 22.
The offer is available only on selected TAROM-operated flights and is subject to seat availability.
