Wizz Air has outlined its growth priorities for the coming years, with the low-cost airline focusing on expanding its presence across Central and Eastern Europe while also strengthening operations in other key European markets.

The strategy was presented during Wizz Air’s Capital Markets Day on September 17, 2026, with the company detailing how it plans to deploy aircraft capacity and improve the economics of its network.

According to the presentation, Wizz Air intends to maintain flexibility when deciding where to allocate aircraft, taking into account competitive and geopolitical opportunities. Spain is among the markets specifically highlighted as part of this approach.

Central and Eastern Europe remain at the heart of the airline’s plans. Wizz Air says it wants to deepen its presence in the region while also strengthening its position in Italy, expanding across the Balkans and developing its operations in Spain.

The airline plans to add aircraft and frequencies at attractive bases, with the aim of increasing fleet utilization and improving the economics of airport operations.

This expansion will be supported by a substantial aircraft order backlog. Wizz Air expects to receive 139 Airbus A321neo aircraft between financial years F27 and F30, giving the airline significant additional capacity to deploy across its network.

The company currently operates 270 aircraft from 41 bases, serving 174 airports in 52 countries. During financial year F26, Wizz Air carried 69.7 million passengers.

The presentation also highlights the importance of keeping the airline's capacity deployment flexible as market conditions change. Rather than committing all future aircraft to a fixed group of markets, Wizz Air says it wants the ability to move capacity toward opportunities that offer stronger commercial potential.
