Naples, Italy. Photo: Shutterstock Passengers traveling through Naples International Airport are facing two separate disruptions in the coming months, with an ENAV strike scheduled for September 30 followed by the planned closure of the airport during November for runway rehabilitation.
The first disruption will come on Wednesday, September 30, when ENAV personnel are scheduled to take part in a national four-hour strike from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Naples Airport has warned that delays and cancellations may occur during the industrial action.
The strike is part of a long string of actions affecting trains, buses, airports and flights, culminating with a 24-hour nationawide multisector strike on September 26.
Passengers traveling to Naples on Wednesday are advised to check their flight status with their airline and confirm whether their departure or arrival could be affected before heading to the airport.

The project is designed to upgrade the runway and associated infrastructure in line with aviation industry requirements and safety standards.
During the closure, flight operations at Capodichino will be suspended and airlines will have to adjust their schedules according to their operational plans.
The timing of the closure has been discussed with the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, ENAC. The authority has previously said that the work should be organized to limit the number of days the airport is completely closed and reduce the impact on passengers and airlines.
Some flights are expected to be diverted to alternative airports while Naples is closed.
One of the main alternatives is Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport, QSR, which is also part of the Campania airport system. Rome Fiumicino Airport, FCO, can provide another option for passengers, although travelers arriving there will need to continue their journey to Naples by train, bus, car or other ground transportation.
The changes could be particularly important for tourists who have already booked holidays in Naples or elsewhere in southern Italy.
Naples is a gateway to the Campania region, including the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and destinations around the Bay of Naples. A change of arrival airport could therefore affect airport transfers, car rentals and other pre-booked arrangements.
Travelers whose flights are moved to Salerno or Rome should check the onward journey before departure and allow additional time for reaching Naples or their final destination.
