The disruption is linked to the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026, which is taking place at the Sepang International Circuit near KLIA.
Access to the airport will remain available, but Malaysia Airlines says roads leading to KLIA and surrounding areas could experience heavier traffic during the event.
Passengers are advised to check the latest traffic conditions and road closure information from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) before leaving for the airport. Travelers should also consider alternative routes if necessary.
The airline is recommending the KLIA Ekspres train as another option for reaching the airport during the busy period.
Malaysia Airlines is also reminding passengers of its recommended airport arrival times. International travelers should arrive at KLIA at least three hours before their scheduled departure, while passengers on domestic flights should arrive at least two hours before departure.
Check-in counters close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time for both domestic and international flights.
With thousands of visitors expected to travel to Sepang for the Formula 1 event, passengers flying from KLIA during the October 2 to 4 period are being urged to factor possible delays into their journey.
