Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport has welcomed its three millionth passenger of 2026, reaching the milestone for the fourth consecutive year. The airport marked the occasion with HiSky, the airline that operated the flight carrying the milestone passenger.

The passenger traveled on flight H4278 from Bucharest Otopeni to Cluj-Napoca and was symbolically recognized during an event attended by airport representatives, local authorities and the press.

The achievement reinforces Cluj Airport’s role as a key aviation hub for Transylvania. It is also the only regional airport in Romania to have exceeded three million passengers annually, according to the airport’s statement.

Viorel Federiga, president of the airport’s board of directors, attributed the result to passenger confidence, staff efforts and the airport’s development strategy. He also pointed to the airport’s position in Romania’s competitive aviation market.

David Ciceo, the airport’s general manager, said the milestone came amid uncertainty and challenges affecting the aviation sector. He said the airport would continue working to increase traffic, expand its destination network and attract additional airlines.
