Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis, marking the Hyatt Centric brand’s first entry into Missouri. The 142-room hotel is located in a historic building on Washington Avenue, within reach of downtown St. Louis attractions, sports venues and convention facilities.
The property at 1501 Washington Avenue is housed in an 11-story building constructed in 1910 as the headquarters of Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Company, a major player in the city’s early 20th-century footwear industry.
Its architectural features include slender vertical columns, elaborate ornamentation and Art Nouveau influences, reflecting the period when Washington Avenue was a center of St. Louis’ garment and shoe businesses.
The hotel’s 142 guestrooms and suites combine contemporary furnishings with industrial-inspired design, high ceilings, oversized windows and natural light. Selected rooms also include dedicated seating areas with sofas.
Guests can visit the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, City Museum, Forest Park and America’s Center Convention Complex, all within reach of the downtown location. The MetroLink transit system is also nearby.
Dining options include The Link, a lobby restaurant and bar serving New American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its menu features St. Louis favorites such as toasted ravioli and The Hill Classic pizza, alongside dishes prepared using a wood-burning pizza oven and wood-fired grill. The restaurant is named after Theodore C. Link, the architect associated with the historic building who also designed St. Louis Union Station.
The hotel also has a Lobby Bar and Provisions, a 24-hour grab-and-go market offering sandwiches, salads and other essentials.
On the rooftop, Expedition combines a seasonal bar and swimming pool with views across downtown St. Louis. The venue serves cocktails and shareable dishes and is scheduled to operate during spring and summer, offering lunch and dinner throughout the week.
For business and social events, Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis provides approximately 11,750 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
Its facilities include a ballroom that can accommodate more than 200 guests, as well as a 24-hour fitness center and pet-friendly accommodations.
Bill Tirone, the hotel’s general manager, said the property offers World of Hyatt members and other guests a new way to experience the city while preserving the history of its Washington Avenue location.
Brad Dean, CEO of Explore St. Louis, said the opening brings new life to a historic downtown landmark and adds another accommodation option near America’s Center and The Dome.
The opening expands Hyatt’s presence in St. Louis with a property that combines historic architecture, dining and leisure facilities in the city center.
