Wizz Air Adds New Routes. Cluj's International Airport in Romania strengthens its position as Transylvania's leading air hub as Wizz Air adds five international routes for the winter season 2025/26.

The Marrakesh route took off for the first time last week and will operate twice weekly (Thu/Sun).

Additionally, routes to Stockholm Skavsta and Billund (Mon/Fri, twice weekly) and the route to Tel Aviv with three weekly flights (Mon/Wed/Fri) have also opened. The route to Oslo Sandefjord Torp launched this past weekend (Tue/Sat, twice weekly).

Marrakesh and Oslo Torp are brand-new routes for Cluj, while Stockholm Skavsta, Billund, and Tel Aviv are returning after previous years of operation.

The airport highlights that the network expansion aims to meet increasing demand from business and leisure travelers and to strengthen Transylvania's connectivity to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. The leadership of Cluj County and airport management explained that the move is the result of a long-term investment strategy and close collaboration with Wizz Air, which has continued for over 18 years.

Wizz Air, the largest operator at Cluj Airport, emphasizes that the move is in line with the company's "Customer First Compass" strategy, which aims at sustainable growth, improving regional connectivity, and maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the modern A321neo fleet.

The Heart of Transylvania

Cluj-Napoca, known as "the heart of Transylvania," is a vibrant university city and the region's capital of culture and innovation, boasting a thriving tech and startup scene that attracts technology companies and skilled young professionals. The calendar is filled with music and film festivals that energize the city, from the city stadium to the historic center.

Culinary and nightlife thrive in local bistros, bars, and farmers' markets, where morning coffee is served in classic stone squares. Nearby nature offers canyons, caves, and unique salt mines within a short drive, easily accessible thanks to the "Avram Iancu" Airport.

Cluj-Napoca is suitable for any season: a green urban summer, a colorful autumn for photography, and winter with festive markets and relaxing day trips in the surroundings.
