The Arctic cold wave that is freezing Europe is expected to peak this coming Saturday, with temperatures dropping well below freezing.

According to the most recent forecasts, the minimum temperatures in several major European cities will be unusual and extreme, potentially causing severe disruptions to daily life, aviation, and road and rail transportation.

Here are the minimum temperatures expected on Saturday across the continent: Amsterdam -5, Prague -11, Paris -1, Berlin -10, Budapest -7, London -1, Bucharest -3, Brussels -4, Vienna -9, Warsaw -14, Kiev -16, and Zurich -2. Rome and Madrid will both enjoy cozier temperatures at one degree above zero.

The extremely low temperatures are due to Storm Goretti, which brings strong winds and blizzards.

Next week, temperatures in Europe are expected to rise slightly but will still remain a few degrees above zero.
