Birmingham Airport to operate a single shuttle for the remainder of January. The popular airport in the heart of England that offers more than 140 direct worldwide destinations for over 13 million passengers has announced its Air-Rail Link will be operating on one shuttle until February 2026. The service cut has been determined by planned maintenance work.

Passengers can expect delays, with the only available shuttle operating roughly every 6 to 8 minutes between 03:30 and 00:30 (GMT) daily. The airport warns of possible extended waiting times during peak-times.

As an alternative, passengers who are in a hurry can use the safe and clearly marked walking routes between the Terminal and Birmingham International train station.

Winter Travel Made Easy

Management has also informed travelers of possible changes in flight schedules due to unexpected weather changes, encouraging them to sign up for FCDO travel advice email alerts. These updates can include major transport disruptions, changes to local laws and customs, and weather-related issues that may affect your journey.

Reminder: New Security Rules for Liquids and Personal Items

Passengers flying from Birmingham Airport should also pay close attention to security requirements:

- Liquids, pastes, and gels in hand luggage must be in containers no larger than 2 litres. Anything over this size must be checked, and items exceeding the limit will be removed and destroyed.

- There is no restriction on the number of 2-litre containers you can carry.

- Insulated bottles are allowed but must be completely empty.

- Liquids should be left loose in hand luggage, not placed in plastic bags, and they should stay inside your bag during screening.

- All electrical items remain in hand luggage, while pocket items such as phones, keys, and coins must be removed. Watches can stay on.

Preparing for Check-In and Security

If you are planning a flight before noon with Jet2 or TUI, you can drop off your checked luggage the day before your departure. On the day of travel, you can save precious time and energy by heading straight to the security queue on the ground floor.

If you arrive by train, you must join security from the ground floor.

Check-in zones are clearly marked: Zone A for Jet2, Zone D for Emirates, and Zones B and C for all other airlines. Construction work on the airport’s new security area is ongoing, and queues may form downstairs during peak times.
