Following the delivery of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft nicknamed "Berlin", Lufthansa is moving forward with its celebration of 100 years of operations, with the expected arrival of two more aircraft bearing the celebratory branding.
In the coming days, an Airbus A320neo and an Airbus A350-900 are expected to leave the paint shops in Norwich, England, and Chateauroux, France, both in the special festive design.
The design features a blue fuselage with a white crane on top, whose wing symbol blends with the aircraft's wings. Alongside the crane is the number 100 on the left side of the fuselage, and on the right side appears the inscription 1926 | 2026. In addition, the number 100 also appears on the underside of the aircraft.
The A320neo, registration D-AING, is expected to land in Frankfurt today, January 19, 2026, and then enter regular service. Its maiden flight will take off to Larnaca, Cyprus. The A350-900, registration D-AIXL, is expected to arrive in Munich on February 3, 2026.
The Boeing 787-9, registration D-ABPU, which landed in Frankfurt on December 23, will also begin operating on regular routes starting January 20, 2026. Its first flight will be to Mumbai, India, and it is expected to serve as a flying ambassador for the centenary year on international flights.
