Air Canada revealed today (February 12, 2026) that it has placed a final order for eight Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The move is part of a strategy to renew and expand its wide-body fleet, marking another step in deepening cooperation between the Canadian company and the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus.
The A350-1000 is a new-generation wide-body aircraft with a range of up to 9,000 nautical miles. Air Canada estimates that integrating the aircraft into its fleet will enable the operation of long-haul direct routes from Canada to emerging markets in Southeast Asia and Australia, as part of the company's global expansion plans.
The aircraft is equipped with the "Airspace" cabin, which includes an improved comfort configuration for extra-long flights, with low noise levels and a lower cabin height compared to previous models. According to Airbus, the combination of advanced technologies, improved aerodynamics, and new-generation Rolls-Royce engines reduces fuel consumption and emissions by approximately 25% compared to competing aircraft of the previous generation.
The A350 is already adapted to operate with up to 50% SAF (sustainable aviation fuel), and Airbus has set a target for full adaptation to 100% SAF by 2030. As of the end of January 2026, more than 1,500 orders for this aircraft model had been placed, including by Emirates and SWISS , and a total of 67 companies worldwide.
