The announcement was made on Monday night, March 16, 2026. Passengers who were scheduled to fly through the airport were asked to contact the airlines or package and tour operators from whom they purchased their flight directly to obtain information regarding changes to reservations and alternative travel options.
A warning strike is a short strike that aims to put pressure on workplace management or regulatory authorities, usually to draw attention to workers' demands, without shutting down all activity for an extended period of time.
On March 12, the strike that took place at Brussels Airport saw all outgoing flights canceled. At the same time, as part of the Lufthansa pilots' strike, the Vereinigung Cockpit union began a two-day strike between March 12-13.
