Today, April 6, 2026, the German airline marks the 100th anniversary of its maiden flights with a series of special events held throughout the day, including interesting historical reenactments to mark the fact that, on this day, exactly a century ago, the company's planes first took off from Berlin to Zurich and Cologne.
Photo: LufthansaAs part of the celebrations, two wide-body aircraft (a Boeing 787-9 and an Airbus A350-900) will depart from the company's home ports in Frankfurt and Munich for the capital, Berlin. The flights, numbered LH1926 and LH2026, have attracted great interest among aviation enthusiasts, and tickets have sold out within a few days. Many spectators are also expected to gather in Zurich and Cologne for the event.
The planes will carry over 400 passengers, including Lufthansa Group employees and their spouses, as well as influencers and journalists. Both planes feature the new, special design, which includes the white crane emblem, to mark 100 years of operation.

The company recalls that 100 years ago today, on April 6, 2026, the company's first planes took off from Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, a Fokker Grulich F II plane to Zurich, with a newlywed couple on board, and a Dornier Komet III plane to Cologne, with only one passenger.
