Air travel across Germany is set to face a new round of disruptions as the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced strike action affecting several airlines within the Lufthansa Group.

The strike will impact Lufthansa and Lufthansa CityLine on Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14, 2026. At the same time, Eurowings will be affected on Monday, April 13 only.

The pilots’ union has specifically called on its members at Eurowings Germany to walk out for a full 24-hour period, from 00:01 to 23:59. It is important to note that Eurowings operates two separate entities. Only flights operated by Eurowings Germany are included in the strike, while those run by Eurowings Europe will continue as scheduled.

Airlines within the Lufthansa Group are working to reduce the impact by shifting operations where possible to partner carriers. A special timetable has already been introduced for the strike period. Under this plan, Lufthansa and Lufthansa CityLine expect to operate around one-third of their short-haul flights and about half of their long-haul services. Eurowings, meanwhile, aims to maintain around 60% of its planned schedule.

Eurowings said it regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and is taking steps to limit disruption. Alongside Eurowings Europe, the airline will rely on support from partner airlines to keep as many flights running as possible.

Flights operated by other Lufthansa Group carriers, including Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, SWISS, Air Dolomiti, Discover Airlines, Edelweiss and Lufthansa City Airlines are not affected.

Passengers whose flights are disrupted will be notified, provided their contact details are included in their booking. Travelers are strongly advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport, either via airline websites or mobile apps.

Customers affected by cancellations can rebook once free of charge or request a refund, in line with existing airline policies.
