Traveling means bracing yourself for plenty of patience in anticipation of potential risks, from your flight being canceled at the last minute due to a strike or bad weather to your luggage being lost or having to sit in an endless airport queue.
Nowadays, a growing number of passengers are turning to a simple solution that can dramatically cut waiting time: airport fast-track services.
These special services enable you to easily and smoothly bypass standard security lines and use dedicated priority lanes, thus considerably reducing the time you would normally spend at checkpoints. At many major airports, the service can save you anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes during peak travel periods.
The concept is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is purchase access in advance or at the airport, wait for a digital pass to be sent to you, usually via email, and make sure to scan it at a designated fast-track lane. From there, you should be able to move through security a lot faster than you would in a regular queue.
Special note: using these services will not allow you to skip security checks. The difference, however, lies in reduced waiting time thanks to separate lanes and controlled passenger flow.
The services are currently available at hundreds of airports worldwide, including:
Europe: Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), London Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW), Brussels (BRU), Zurich (ZRH), and many Spanish airports (Aena).
The United States of America: JFK, Newark (EWR), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD), and Washington Dulles (IAD).
Middle East & Asia: Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Doha (DOH), Singapore Changi (SIN), Delhi (DEL), and Riyadh (RUH).
The services are increasingly popular among both business and leisure travelers, especially when bundled with premium tickets, credit cards, and loyalty programs.
However, experts say it is not always necessary. At some airports, average wait times remain relatively short, meaning the time saved may be minimal depending on when and where you travel.
For example, Palm Beach International (PBI), John Wayne (SNA), and Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) frequently report airport wait times under 7 minutes for security or customs. Singapore Changi Airport is also renowned for high efficiency, while Luxembourg (LUX) and Rotterdam (RTM) are among the fastest in Europe.
Nonetheless, during busy travel seasons, holidays, or tight connections, the fast track can make a noticeable difference, allowing passengers to spend less time in line and instead relax, shop, play golf, visit a museum, or mentally prepare for their flight.
As airports continue to invest in technology and passenger experience, services like fast track are becoming part of a broader trend, making the journey through the airport faster, smoother, and more predictable.
