The routes to Budapest and Prague represent entirely new destinations within the airline’s global network. Both services from Philadelphia are operated using the Boeing 787-8, while flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich use a combination of the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER.

American Airlines said the launch coincides with a redesigned operational schedule at its Philadelphia hub aimed at improving passenger flow and reliability during the busy summer period by improving on-time performance, flight connections, and baggage handling.

The carrier also recently introduced direct flights from Philadelphia to Santiago in the Dominican Republic.

At Dallas-Fort Worth, American Airlines has implemented a similar strategy with a new 13-bank schedule designed to better manage the airport’s more than 930 peak-daily departures.

The airline says the adjustments have helped reduce delays, minimize gate changes, and improve customer connections across its global network.

Athens and Zurich now join more than 230 nonstop destinations served from Dallas-Fort Worth, reinforcing the airport’s position as American Airlines’ largest hub.

To celebrate the new routes, launch events were held at both Philadelphia and Dallas-Fort Worth airports featuring cultural performances, food, and festivities linked to the newly served destinations.

Record-Breaking Summer Travel Plans

The airline expects to carry approximately 75 million passengers across 750,000 flights during its summer season, which it calls its largest ever.

In addition to the newly launched routes, American Airlines recently added new nonstop European services from Miami International Airport to Milan and from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Edinburgh.

The company is also highlighting several customer-focused upgrades for summer travelers, including updates to its mobile app, expanded TSA PreCheck Touchless ID access, enhanced airport lounges, and complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi for loyalty program members on most domestic flights.
